Electronic version of the already published volumes of Flora of North America north of Mexico, an ambitious revision and taxonomic description of existing plants in the wild in Canada and the United States. The site is well organized and provides a powerful tool for tracking families and genera, by states or provinces, elevations and even by free text words.
If agricultural development is to be successful and biodiversity is to be conserved, then accurate knowledge of the identity, geographic distribution and uses of plants is essential. Unfortunately, such basic information is often only partially available for professional stakeholders, teachers, scientists and citizens, and often incomplete for ecosystems that possess the highest plant diversity, i.e. Mediterranean and tropical regions.
