  The National Association of Environmental Action is an NGO operating in the fields of reforestation, agro-ecology, conservation and improvement of soil fertility. They do this by raising awareness, organizing training and rural development. The ANAE promotes permanent cover crop systems, and focuses on the Lake Alaotra, Andasibe Mantadia and Bongolava regions, under contract with the Groupement Semis Direct Madagascar (MSWM).

  Surveillance and biological control of fruit flies in the Indian Ocean

  Several techniques are used in the fight against fruit and vegetable flies in the Indian Ocean. One is biological control, using Psyttalia fletcheri, a parasitoid which lays its eggs directly in the fruit fly larvae.

  Eric Rivière, the Cirad’s specialist on plant species in Réunion

  Eric Rivière wanders forests and ravines in search of native or endemic plant species, or their enemies, alien species. His is a research assistant at the Cirad, specializing on forest ecosystems. He is in permanent contact with the National Forestry Office (ONF) and the National Park. For several years, he worked with researcher Jean-Michel Sarrailh on the germination ecology of speciesin Reunion. This research now allows nurseries to produce seedlings of native shrubs. These plants were used to "vegetate" the Route des Tamarins and more recently, to restore the semi-dryforest of Réunion  as part of the Life + project, coordinated by the National Park.
